To honor the sacrifices of UN forces who fought in the Korean War, the Turn Toward Busan Commemoration was held at the UNMCK on November 11th. This ceremony was hosted by the Korean Ministry for Patriots and Veterans Affairs. During the commemoration, people around the world are encouraged to face the direction of Busan and observe a moment of silence at 11:00AM to remember the UN forces of the Korean War.
This year, the UNMCK was honored to receive 40 Korean War Veterans and families of the fallen, who were not able to travel last year due to the spread of COVID-19.
The event was also attended by approximately 300 people, including Prime Minister Kim Bu-kyum of Republic of Korea, Vice President Marta Lucia-Ramirez of Colombia, MPVA Minister Hwang Gi-chul of ROK, H.E. Frode Solberg, the Chairman of the Commission for the UNMCK (Ambassador of Norway to Republic of Korea), Mayor of Busan Metropolitan City Park Hyung-joon, and Custodian Hur Kang-il of the UNMCK.
