There are 2,300 precious lives interred here at the UNMCK.
It may be not so meaningful to know the names of the younest
man and the oldest one, mainly because every live here
is equally important.
As a symbolic gesture, however, I decided to name after them
in the newly created facilities. That is the Daunt Waterway and
the Carabot Hall.
The Daunt Waterway, named after the youngest solier from Australia
who died at the age of 17 during the Korean War, is 110 meters long
brook in which 11 different species of fish are living. Numeric number
11 signifies the number of the countries whose nationals have been
buried in the UNMCK. Happen to be, today is the Memorial Day of
Mr. Daunt who died on Nov. 6, 1951.
Carabot Hall, named after the oldest solier from UK who died at the
age of 54 during the Korean War, is approximately 34 square meters
spacious in which 26 photos selected through photo contest are
presently exhibited.
