Burial Story
Gunner Bayley was a reservist who was called up for service in August 1950. He was a salt worker from Stafford, Staffordshire, and left behind a widow and three sons under the age of four. His burial record states that he had died of drowning in the Han river. He had heavily tattooed arms: on his right arm were British flags, crown, castle, “N.W.F.P.,” Peshawar Fort, two angles with arms locked, peacock, nude woman, serpent wrapped around wings on back, dagger through heart and butterfly. On his left arm, a British flag, crown, castle, sun, elephant, ”19 India 40,” dagger through heart, “Mother,” peacock, woman in bathing suit, dagger through heart and butterfly, dagger and bird name, Jack Rusty.
