The United Nations Memorial Cemetery in Korea, the one and only United Nations Memorial Cemetery in the world, is the final resting place of the brave UN Forces who sacrificed their lives for world peace and freedom.
In the front of the monument, doves are engraved to represent peace. Along with the doves, the engraved writing of a former President, Chung-hee PARK, reads “the UN Forces Monument” in Korean.
The Unknown Soldiers’ Pathway, made of 11 cascades of water, pays tribute to the UN soldiers who were sacrificed without a name.
The Wall of Remembrance has 40,896 names of the UN Forces who passed away during the Korean War to honor their service and sacrifice.
The Memorial Service Hall was designed by a famous Korean architect, Joong-up KIM. The visitors can watch a 12-minute-long documentary about the Korean War and the UN Memorial Cemetery in Korea.
