Burial Story
Nicknamed "Robbie" by his family, he was born in York Township, Ontario. He was the son of Robert John and Thelma Ruby Arding, as well as the brother of Doris, Norman, and Lawrence. He attended Silverthorn Public School in Toronto, Ontario. Because he could not find work to support his family, Arding joined the army as a cook, and sent $40 to his mother every month. He cooked for 150 men once he was positioned overseas. He wrote a letter of five pages to his mother from Korea on October 5th. He was killed on October 23rd, five days after his 18th birthday.
