Burial Story

John Alan ATKINSON was born in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England on 16th October, 1923. He was killed in Action, Kapyong, Korea, 24 April 1951, aged 27 years.
His parents were John Vincent ATKINSON & Florence Annie SYKES who married in Sheffield UK in 1916. His father John Vincent ATKINSON served during WW2  (SN W29031) & (W3753) & was discharged on 26th November, 1944 (Captain with the 44th Infantry Battalion).
He had previously served in the Royal Marines.
His brother Horace Michael ATKINSON also served during WW2 (SN WX11737) and was discharged on 14th November, 1945 (Craftsman with the Australian base workshop).
