Dear Korean War Veterans, Hello Veterans, I’m 19 years old Yae-eun Lee, living in South Korea. Last year, I have done various activities, but the most memorable thing was that I participated in the Korean Youth Science Competition at Yonsei University. I went to a chemistry session and wrote my own dissertation on de-icing. Based on the research that I did, I want to explore, think and experiment more deeply on chemistry this year too, as I did last year. The New Year has come, and I have a new goal by going up to the 3rd grade of high school. In 2020, as I became 19 years old, I should prepare for the university entrance exam. Last year, when I was in my second year of high school, I became convinced of my dream. At first, I had a dream of being a psychiatrist, and I started to think that it was more important to make sure rather than healing those patients, preventing people from being sick. Therefore, now my dream is to be a school teacher, teaching chemistry. I really like chemistry subject and especially the chemical experiment. My vision is to teach chemistry as an easy way and want to change the students’ perception that chemistry is hard subject. Also, during teaching the students, I would like to study about how can children be much happier, and I would like to remove mental diseases caused by stress from studying. In order to achieve my goal, I need to study hard. Recently I am struggling with mathematics. I am not that good at solving applied mathematics problems, but as I have to go to university to study what I want, I am trying to study math everyday at least 3hours. My short term goal is to get a good score in Advance Mathematics and Advanced Chemistry on the midterm exam which will be held on April. I’m glad to write a letter for you. Without your dedication, Korea today would not have existed. I would never forget about your devotion for us. Recently, I am learning about the Korean War again, not only me but also other students are grateful to veterans like you for taking the class. Although I can't help you directly, I want to help you a little bit, and I thought that without you, I might not have existed now. How could you be so devoted to a place that is not your country? I'd like to applaud you for your dedication. Also, I would like to apply your courage to my life as I learn and live. It's 2020 and do you have any New Year's goals? I think it’s always a pleasure to welcome the New Year. I feel like I’m starting a new life. I wonder what your New Year would have been like. I hope you will achieve more this year. Also I pray that this year will be a happy, full of good things to you. Always be healthy and take good care of yourself so that you don't get sick! Sincerely, Yae-eun Lee.
