Dear Korean War Veterans Hello, I’m Minju Yoo, a senior at Hankuk Academy of Foreign Studies in South Korea. These days, the whole world is chaotic about pandemic: COVID-19. The new virus, COVID-19, hit the world and causing many patients and deaths. Many people died and also Korea couldn't avoid it. Things got worse and we cannot go out and schools and many stores have been closed. The original schedule is continuously delayed due to COVID-19, and also the schedule for the Standardized Test like the SAT has been canceled. Based on these situations, I am worried that my efforts for every schedule and tests will be ruined due to COVID-19 but I know it's a serious problem and I hope we can get over it soon with everyone’s efforts. I watched TV a few days ago, and the TV program was about medical staff and volunteer workers who fought against COVID-19 and struggle for many patients. They are trying to overcome this hardship together for their patients. They couldn’t sleep or eat properly but they still fight against the virus. I believe that this situation will be overcome because of the sacrifices and efforts of these heroes. The media is describing every day as a war. I haven't experienced the war, but I think it is that dangerous because I spend every day in worry. Also, I thought of Veterans when I saw this situation. Although It is not a real war, I'm living every day in fear that someone around me or I might die of this virus, and I can't imagine the feelings of the war that the Korean War veterans who experienced the real war had felt. And I once again realized that I should thank Korean War Veterans for their sacrifice and courage during the Korean War, which I respect for the medical staff who are working hard in this situation. I think Korean War Veterans are also the hero who risked their lives and put their efforts and encouraged war. Every time I have a crisis like this, I think of Korean War Veterans. It's often said that a war situation is unimaginable. Whenever the crisis comes up, I often pledge to be grateful to the veterans who helped our country during a hard and risky wartime situation. I often visit the veterans' houses in Korea to become a friend to talk with, and I feel that War veterans are really respectable and honorable when I hear the stories about the war that they tell me. I think your courage and spirits are definitely something we should learn from. I will always remember you with a grateful heart. Today, the world is noisy because of the virus and I hope you take care of your health. In Korea, people are recommended to wear masks when they are going out, avoid crowded places, and wash their hands often. I believe that these methods will certainly help us to avoid COVID-19.
